Great Ormond Street Hospital
Great Ormond Street Hospital is close to our hearts and we have supported this charity for the last four years. Last month we purchased a syringe pump for £1,500 which provide accurate and continuous pain relief in critical medical care. There is a Trust wide shortage and the life span of a pump is 8-10 years.

Two St Lucian boys in the wreckage of their home after the devastation of Hurricane Tomas
St Lucia
We are sending a container to St Lucia filled with adult and children’s clothes, footwear, towels, toys, games, books, writing materials etc. Andy West has reconditioned some redundant Cadline computers and these will be sent to a school in a deprived area along with some of the old training monitors. Thank you to everyone who has donated.
Sri Lanka
Along with two other donors we are paying for a boy to have life saving surgery in Sri Lanka. Sandaruwan is a 12 year old boy with a fatal spine condition. Without surgery his lungs will collapse within the next 10 to 15 years, leading to certain death. If the surgery is successful he will be able to lead a more or less normal life. The surgeon we have chosen is the medical lead in Sri Lanka, and has undertaken more than 300 such operations with 100% success rate. This complicated, 6 hour long procedure is scheduled for 9th October and the cost of the operation is USD 16,000.
Voice of a Woman
Is a charity that we have helped to establish in the UK that addresses a range of educational issues. The YLSR’s Youth Leadership Training Program was launched in 2010 at The South African High Commission in Trafalgar Square and helps to engage youth in socially responsible projects; the current project supported concerns sex trafficking. Nelson Mandela offered his support to this charity and Maureen O’Bryan, the charity founder, was invited to spend a day at his home in Johannesburg.
We supported, along with The University of Westminster, the launch of the VOW Mentoring Programme at The National Portrait Gallery in July this year. This program introduces inspirational business women, as mentors, to young women starting their further education and careers.
